LYNN MORRISON APPOINTED AS CHIEF EXECUTIVE FOR LEITH THEATRE

Leith Theatre Trust would like to give the warmest of all welcomes to Lynn Morrison, who has accepted the newly formed role of Chief Executive.

The role of Chief Executive at Leith Theatre has been made possible through generous funding from The Heritage Lottery Fund’s Resilient Heritage Grant. The Resilient Heritage Grant aims to strengthen organisations and build the capacity of staff and volunteers to better manage heritage in the long term - we have no doubt that Lynn’s appointment will help us do just that.

Lynn has over 20 years’ experience of managing and developing multi-use arts venues mainly in the independent film sector.

Her early career began in Edinburgh at both the Cameo Cinema and Theatre Workshop. Following years in venue development, Lynn has been part of the journey of some of the country’s most cutting-edge creative hubs, from the boutique Gate Cinema in London’s Notting Hill to the majestic Ritzy in Brixton and Newcastle’s mighty Tyneside Cinema.

In recent years Lynn has been in post as Director of Operations and HR with Cultural Enterprise Office, where Lynn’s role supported the development of businesses and practitioners across Scotland’s Creative Industries

“We are delighted to welcome Lynn Morrison to Leith Theatre Trust as our Chief Executive. This is a very important leadership role for us and Lynn has a great combination of strategic and operational skills and experience. She joins us at a crucial stage in the regeneration of Leith Theatre. We have just completed our Feasibility Study and we are working on our Funding Plan and our Business Plan.”

- Jack Hunter, Chair, Leith Theatre Trust

I am thrilled to be appointed as Chief Executive of Leith Theatre at this exciting time in the Theatre’s development and I very much look forward to joining Team Leith Theatre. The venue’s charm and beauty has made a huge impression on me, having visited as an audience member at several of the much talked about performances in the last few years. The opportunities in this space are endless as refurbishment and development plans continue to evolve. I look forward to being part of bringing more of these cultural, entertainment, leisure, civic and educational events to Leith audiences and far beyond.

- Lynn Morrison, Chief Executive, Leith Theatre Trust
