We Need Your Stories!

Leith Theatre has a proud heritage and has played a significant role in many people’s lives. We are starting a memory bank to preserve not only the building’s history but also the experiences and stories of the people who have been part of its journey.

As we begin this project, we’d love to hear from those with memories of the following:

Did you or someone you know attend dances or community events here in the 1950s or 1960s? Whether “gaun tae the dancin” was your thing or you took part in recitals with friends, we’d love to hear your story!

Did you or someone you know attend performances here in the 1960s or 1970s? Whether you were rocking out to AC/DC, part of the audience for another show, or even performing on stage yourself, we’d love to hear from you!

Over the decades, the venue has been known by different names, so you may have been to:

Leith Theatre

Leith Town Hall

Thomas Morton Hall

Or possibly even Citadel / Leaf Hall

We would love to hear your personal stories from these times. Please get in touch at memories@leiththeatre.co.uk to briefly outline what you’d like to share, along with your name and contact details and someone from the team will get back in touch.

Help us preserve Leith Theatre’s legacy and ensure that its history lives on for future generations 💙

This project was made possible through the Resilient Theatres, Resilient Communities grant which is supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Theatres Trust, the Pilgrim Trust and Swire Charitable Trust.
